The main role of the Company Law Administration Section is to advise and assist the Minister in relation to the carrying out of his statutory, policy and managerial responsibilities under the Companies Acts 1963 to 2006. This work relates mainly to the current legislative and regulatory framework.
The work involved in managing the current companies framework includes monitoring and supporting the main regulatory authorities operating within it viz. the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (ODCE), the Companies Registration Office (CRO), and the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority (IAASA).
Arising from the above functions, there are a small number of matters that involve the delivery of a specific service to the public. For more details, see work of the company law administration section.
