Our Role
Our objective is to contribute to the development of an integrated consumer policy framework at national and EU level that will encompass the principles of access, choice, information, protection, representation and redress. In furtherance of this objective we are seeking to:
- Promote and develop an effective, transparent and coherent legislative framework governing the interests and protection of consumers
- Facilitate consumers to become better informed and more demanding of high quality standards in purchasing goods and services;
- Enhance the consumer voice by encouraging the integration of consumer interests in all sectoral policy areas and strengthening the opportunities for consumers and their representative organisations to participate in the policy making process.
Because a number of Government Departments, agencies and bodies have responsibility for developing and enforcing regulation affecting consumers' rights, we are aware that it can be difficult to identify/contact the correct source of information for a particular issue. We hope that our web page will provide clarification on the areas where we can assist you and also point to other sources of information that may be of relevance to you.
