Work of the Co-operative Legislation Unit

To administer the existing legislation relating to industrial and provident societies and friendly societies, including the preparation of relevant secondary legislation
To review the existing legislation leading to the implementation of any legislative changes considered necessary or desirable.
To support and monitor the Registry of Friendly Societies and address any significant matters or issues that arise.
To give full national implementation via secondary legislation to EU Council Regulation No. 1435/2003 on the Statute for a European Cooperative Society (ECS).
