Office of the Secretary General

Our Role

The role of the Secretary General's Office is to provide an efficient secretariat to the Secretary General and the Management Board; to ensure a proper interface between the Office and

  1. the Departments and Offices of the Minister and Ministers of State
  2. other Government Departments
  3. the public

Our Work

The Office is the co-ordination point in the Department for parliamentary questions, other matters of Oireachtas business which may require a Departmental response and some general Departmental enquiries.

Publications and Files

  • General correspondence relating to, and issued by, the Secretary General
  • A database of all Parliamentary Questions put down for answer by the Department
  • A database of all draft Government memoranda requiring Departmental observations
  • The Department's Management Board
