The Protection of Employees (Temporary Agency Work) Act 2012
The Protection of Employees (Temporary Agency Work) Bill has been signed by the President on 16th May and has accordingly become law. This gives effect to EU Directive 2008/104/EC on Temporary Agency Work which was adopted in late 2008. The Act provides that equal treatment in terms of basic working and employment conditions must be applied to temporary agency workers in the same way as if they were directly recruited by the hirer to the same or similar job.
