The role of this Unit;

• The role of the State Aid Section is to ensure compliance of this Department's Industrial Development schemes with EU State Aid rules and advise and assist other Departments to achieve the same in relation to their schemes.
• The Standards Section liaise with the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) on various issues in relation to its functioning e.g. arranges approval of the NSAI budget within the Department's vote, provides administrative support to Ministers on standards related issues and obtains Ministerial consent for standards formulated by NSAI. There are a number of Directives flowing from the EU programme for the elimination of technical barriers to trade, which are also the responsibility of the Section.
