Statistical Tables and Company Listings for the Employment Permits Section
Since January 31st 2003, the Employment Permits Section has been providing the public with a cumulative list of company names issued with work permits. The list will detail companies issued with permits from the beginning of the year up until the last day of the previous month.

There may be a small discrepancy in the total number of permits issued for a given month, in the Statistics sections, compared to the total issued for the same month in the Company listings. This is due to the figures being calculated on different dates; wherein the later date will not incorporate permits which were marked as "Issued", but were subsequently reclassified on our systems. These figures will even out over successive months.

Statistics for the period prior to 2003

While the total number of permits issued in 2002 was up on the previous year, the number of new first-time work permits issued shows a decline from almost 30,000 in 2001 to over 23,000 for 2002. The real figure of new immigrant workers entering Ireland on work permits would have been less, as the above figures include an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 workers per annum changing jobs.
