Treacy Welcomes Increase in Grant Ceiling

Mr. Noel Treacy T.D., Minister for Science, Technology and Commerce today (Thursday 30th July 1998) warmly welcomed the announcement by his Government colleague, Mr Noel Davern T.D., that the EU Commision had given approval to increase the ceiling or maximum level of grant aid that can be approved by LEADER groups. In certain circumstances the groups may now approve funding for up to to £200,000 for a single project.

Minister Treacy said "I am delighted with this decision as I believe it will allow LEADER groups greater flexibility in allocating grant aid to alternative enterprises and it will further encourage rural development initiatives all around the Country."
