Tánaiste Mary Harney today (Friday 8th October, 1999) confirmed that IDA Ireland has reached agreement to sell a site and the 22,8000 sp. ft. advance factory in Longford to Century Homes Ltd., subject to the negotiation of details over the coming days.
She said that the deal would be concluded by IDA Ireland at full commercial valuation and that she looked forward to Century Homes locating its expansion in Longford. Up to 70 jobs could be created in Longford as a result of this development.
The Tánaiste added that the total IDA Ireland site in Longford comprised around 25 acres and therefore there was sufficient land on this high quality site to continue the intensive drive to attract modern and high-tech industry, both indigenous and from overseas. "I am aware of the intensive efforts of both IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland to attract new employment to Longford and I will ensure that these efforts will continue in conjunction with the Longford Task Force."
