Tánaiste Welcomes 300 New Jobs for Kerry
Tánaiste Mary Harney today (Wednesday 21st July 1999) welcomed the decision that 300 new jobs will be created in three IDA Ireland supported investments in Co. Kerry. "These new jobs follow expansions by two existing companies in Killarney and Castleisland together with a new investment in Tralee, which is the first project to be attracted by IDA Ireland to the new Kerry Technology Park in the Town," said the Tánaiste.
The Tánaiste confirmed that an expansion by LIEBHERR Container Cranes Ltd, established over 40 years in Killarney, will create over 170 new jobs and enable production of the largest container cranes in the world at the plant. In Castleisland, Aetna Inc is expanding its Health Insurance Claims processing operation and will add 70 new jobs. The first investment for the new Kerry Technology Park in Tralee is Fleet Street Travel Limited, a UK corporate travel management company, which will establish an English language call centre and initially plans to create over 60 new jobs, but will have the potential for further strong growth in employment.
The Tánaiste said, "the investments will offer high quality employment opportunities across a wide range of skills for people with second level qualifications, certificate/diploma holders, experienced skilled operatives and third level graduates in a range of disciplines."
