DEPARTMENT OF ENTERPRISE, TRADE AND EMPLOYMENT ACCEPTS AWARD - TÁNAISTE
Tánaiste Mary Harney today (Friday 16th April 1999) welcomed the announcement at IITD's 30th Anniversary Dinner at the Conrad Hilton Hotel, Dublin, that her Department is the winner of the PARC/IITD National Training Awards to Industry and Services in the Public Sector category.
The Tánaiste said that "as the Department responsible for the introduction of major initiatives in promoting Human Resource Development, it was very rewarding to see my Department recognised for its part in promoting employee development. This award follows an important organisational strategy through investment in the Departments human resources. By developing a competent, motivated and committed workforce, organisations will be well equipped to deal with future challenges and bring about the necessary changes to achieve corporate success. This is as important in the public sector as in the private sector."
Accepting the award on behalf of the Department, Mr. Roddy Molloy, Assistant Secretary (Head of Corporat Services and Economic Policy) said "the Department is committed to a wholly inclusive training and development programme that will develop all the staff of the Department. In providing training the Department puts great emphasis on integrated development programmes that are tailor-made to both the organisations needs for improved capacities and skills and employees needs for personal growth and development.
Roddy Molloy emphasised that "the Management Board of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment endeavours to ensure that all training programmes are supported at operational level and promotes a culture that acknowledges staff as the Department's most important resource."
