Mary Harney, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment today announced (Monday 31st May, 1999) a further £12 million expansion of Modus Media International operations, with the support of IDA Ireland, which will result in the creation of 200 new jobs over the next year. The Tánaiste was speaking at the official opening of Modus Media's new Customer Solutions Centre at the National Technological Park, Limerick, where 100 of the new jobs are being created.

The other main development with a further 100 jobs, is at the company's facility in Kildare town, which continues to expand. "These developments mean that Modus Media will employ more than 1,000 people at its three facilities in Dublin, Kildare and Limerick within the next year", said the Tánaiste.

Modus Media International is a global leader in outsourced supplies and technology services for the information technology industry. With the rapid growth in this industry in Ireland and Europe, Modus Media has responded well to customer requirements, thereby growing its business very successfully. The current expansion in Ireland is driven by the growth in the business of leading companies such as Dell Computer, Microsoft, 3Com, Gateway 200, IBM, HP and others. "In line with its strategy of being close to its customers, Modus Media has developed its facilities at a number of regional locations in order to provide a faster response and better service. This new facility at Limerick has come on stream as part of this regionalised service" said the Tánaiste.

Welcoming the investment by Modus Media in Limerick, the Tanaiste said it was an important addition to the sub-supply infrastructure for the IT sector in the Region. "It also means that the economic benefits of the large IT companies are being reinforced in the locality and that spin-off employment is being generated", she said. She added that Modus Media was one of a few supply chain management companies which were contributing significantly to the regional job-creation programmes by locating their investment in the regions. "This is a very welcome move and very much in harmony with Government's and IDA Ireland's focus on the regions," the tanaiste stated.

Modus Media International is a global provider of supply chain management solutions to the high technology industry. With digitally linked facilities in all major world markets, Modus Media delivers a full range of integrated services including software manufacturing, hardware assembly, on-demand manufacturing, response management and fulfilment, license administration services, and channel programs management.
