Minister Appoints New Members to Labour Relations Commission
Mary Harney, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, today (Thursday 6th April, 2000) announced changes to the Membership of the Labour Relations Commission.
In making the announcement the Tánaiste expressed her appreciation of the contribution made to the work of the Labour Relations Commission by its Members particularly those
who have served from the earliest days of the Commission.
The Tánaiste said "the membership of the Labour Relations Commission will have a balance of continuity and experience through the continuance of service of about half its Members, while the appointment of four new Members will introduce a fresh perspective to the work of the Commission.
Re-appointed to the Membership of the Labour Relations Commission are Employers' Members Mr. Liam Downey and Mr. Turlough O'Sullivan and Workers' Member Mr. Tom Wall.
Mr Peter McCloone replaces Mr. Jimmy Somers who was recently appointed to the Labour Court. The other new appointments are independent Members Ms Caitriona Murphy, who will be Chairman, Professor Rory O'Donnell and Ms Josephine Feehily.
