Kitt Welcomes Kerrygold Support for Ireland’s Participation in Expo 2000
Tom Kitt, T.D., Minister for Labour, Trade and Consumer Affairs, today (Thursday 27th June, 2000) welcomed the decision by the Irish Dairy Board to support Ireland’s participation in EXPO 2000, the World Exposition which is taking place in Hannover, Germany from the 1st June last to the 31st October next.
"I warmly welcome this very important collaboration between the public and private sectors in promoting Ireland’s presence at EXPO 2000. The Government are committing IR£9.1 million to ensuring that Ireland’s presence in Hannover at EXPO 2000 will have strong impact while also being entertaining. Over the last week, average daily visitor numbers to the Irish Pavilion have been in excess of 7000. The decision of the Irish Dairy Board to place the logo on one of the premium Irish food products on sale in Germany, will greatly contribute to the public perception within Germany of Ireland’s commitment to this World Exposition and its determination to make its mark among the 194 countries and international organisations which are participating in EXPO 2000", said Minister Kitt.
The Minister was speaking as a guest of Hannover at a dinner hosted by Michael Duffy, Chief Executive of An Bord Bia, in Central Hannover this evening at which key German buyers of Irish food and drink products as well as representatives of Guinness, An Bord Iascaigh Mharaigh, Murphy’s and the Irish Dairy Board were present.
