KITT WELCOMES GLANBIA DECISION TO CANCEL PLANS FOR A NEW HALF-LITRE CARTON OF MILK

The Minister for Consumer Affairs, Tom Kitt today (Wednesday 26 September, 2001) welcomed the decision by Glanbia to cancel plans to replace its one-pint carton of milk with a half-litre carton.

The Minister, who had been in direct contact with the company following their original announcement yesterday, said that the decision would mean that there would not now be any increase in milk prices and said that the real winner was the consumer.

The Minister also welcomed the company will honour its commitments in relation to the introduction of the Euro.
