EI Supports €400K Investment in New Start-up

BioClin Research Laboratories Athlone

30 Graduate Jobs in 3 years

Mary Harney, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment today announced the establishment of BioClin Research Laboratories Ltd in Athlone by a number of former Elan employees. BioClin provides a range of research and development services for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, veterinary and neutraceutical industries. The project has a total investment of €400K with equity support from Enterprise Ireland and plans to grow employment in the company from 11 at present to 30 in the next 3 years.

Making the announcement the Tánaiste said: "I welcome the establishment of BioClin, a new start-up with high growth potential. The company has a highly experienced team of scientific personnel with the ability to develop high quality, robust and sensitive analytical methodologies to support all stages of drug development. BioClin has already established a strong client base in Ireland and overseas and aims to provide vital support to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies seeking to strengthen their research and development activities within Ireland".

Mary Burke, Managing Director of BioClin Research Laboratories said: "The support of Enterprise Ireland at this early phase of our operation is a critical factor in our start-up. We plan to aggressively grow our business and to become the preferred R&D partner for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with limited in-house resources in pre-clinical and Phase 1 study management and analysis. At present we are Ireland's largest certified Good Laboratory Practice, US FDA audited independent, contract bio analytical laboratory".
