Minister Fahey Welcomes Decision to Proceed with Galway Outer By-Pass
Minister for Labour Affairs Frank Fahey today welcomed the decision of the NRA to proceed with the planning of the Galway Outer By-Pass. €2.3 million will be allocated to the planning construction process this year.
Minister Fahey confirmed that he had recently met with Michael Tobin, Chief Executive of the NRA and Minister Martin Cullen to express his concerns that planning for this project would not proceed.
Minister Fahey said, "I am delighted with this decision which should enable this project to commence in 2004 and completed by 2007. The By-Pass will greatly assist in alleviating traffic congestion and improve road safety in the area."
