Tánaiste Welcomes New Investment for Roscrea

Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Mary Harney today described the news of major new investment by Taro Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd as great news for Roscrea and the local community.

The Tánaiste said "Given the recent closure of the Miza facility, finding alternative employment for the town of Roscrea was always going to be a challenge. I am particularly delighted with the speed in which this has been achieved and the high quality investor that the IDA has succeeded in attracting."

"This is exactly the kind of investment that the Government is seeking to attract and is very much in line with our strategy to win high quality, high skilled projects. The fact that 25% of the 300 workers will be involved in R&D is a clear indication of the quality of this investment and the availability of a highly skilled workforce", the Tánaiste added.
