Tanaiste Welcomes Diageo Announcement

Tánaiste Welcomes Diageo Announcement

Mary Harney, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment, today (Thursday 15 April) welcomed the announcement by Diageo of its intention to transfer the brewing of Guinness for the Great Britain market to St James's Gate in Dublin.

"This is a very significant boost for the St James's Gate brewery and seriously deepens the already strong presence of Diageo in Ireland. I recently opened the new state-of-the-art production plant in Waterford that produces the essence of Guinness for global distribution. This €40 million investment by Diageo is further recognition of the capabilities within Diageo Ireland and I am pleased that Enterprise Ireland also had a role to play in securing today's outcome", the Tánaiste said.
