"Personal Injuries Assessment Board effective from 1 June 2004"

The Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB) will hold a Press Briefing to announce the timetable for the launch of its service.

The Press Briefing will take place on Wednesday 12th May 2004 at 2.30 p.m. in the Conrad Hotel, Earlsfort Tce, Dublin 2. The Chairperson of the Board Dorothea Dowling and the CEO Patricia Byron will be in attendance.

From 1 June 2004 all personal injury claims arising from workplace accidents (where employee is seeking compensation from his/her employer) must be referred to PIAB before legal proceedings are issued. PIAB will lead to a shift away from the current adversarial litigation system to one which will benefit both consumers and businesses alike.
