CONFERENCE ON INVESTMENT IN HUMAN RESOURCES
Minister for Labour Affairs, Mr Frank Fahey T.D., will open a one-day conference, which forms part of the Irish EU presidency agenda. The EU Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs, Mr Stavros Dimas will also address the conference which will take place in Dublin Castle next Monday, June 21st.
Other contributors at the international conference on “Investment in Human Resources” will include the Director General of FAS, Mr Rody Molloy, the European Commission’s Director General for Employment, Mme Odile Quintin, as well as policy makers from the Member States, labour market economists, representatives of EU enterprises engaged in training initiatives and the EU social partners.
The European Employment Strategy and the Employment Task Force have identified the need for more targeted investment in human capital as a key priority for Member States. The focus of the Conference will be the promotion of enterprise training and will bring together examples of good practice and experience at national and company level.It will also explore some innovative measures that have been successful in particular Member States, and the role of the European Social Fund.
