Minister Michael Ahern presents quality management certificate to Cork-based Companies

Minister for Trade and Commerce, Mr Michael Ahern T.D., today (July 28th 2004) presented the ISO 9001:2000 certificate to Fehily, Timoney Gifford (FTG) and Fehily, Timoney & Co. (FTC). The Cork based company FTG act as designers for 50% of all design and build road projects around the country and are the design consultants for the N25 Youghal By-Pass (recently completed), the N8 Cashel By-Pass and the M7 Monasterevin By-Pass. The ISO certification is an international reference for quality management requirements.

Presenting the certificates, Minister Ahern said “If Ireland’s recent economic progress is to be maintained, we must face the challenge of building up the Nation’s infrastructure to match the strides we have made in economic growth. In meeting this challenge this Government also expects National Development Programme projects to be delivered to a high standard by contractors and consultants committed to quality”.

Minister Ahern noted that Fehily Timoney & Co (FTC) is Ireland’s leading engineering and environmental consultancy and remarked “It is our responsibility to protect our environment and this is another major challenge to be addressed”.

Minister Ahern congratulated the entire management team of each company and all members of staff in attaining the standard of service provision and quality management systems required as part of the ISO 9001:2000 certification process. Minister Ahern said “Since customers are becoming more and more discerning in their interaction with service providers, the lesson for us all when it comes to quality service is that we have to be at the top of our game.”
