Business Objects establishes Software Operations Centre in Dublin

New Centre to create 350 new Software jobs.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin T.D. today (Thursday 14th October 2004) announced that Business Objects, the world’s leading provider of business intelligence (BI) software solutions is establishing a new Operations Centre at Park West Business Park in Dublin, with the support of IDA Ireland.

“The choice of Dublin by Business Objects, a global leader in enterprise software, re-affirms that Ireland is a location-of-choice for major global software companies,” said the Minister.

The Centre will serve customers in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, and will create up to 350 new knowledge intensive jobs by the end of 2006, 50 of which are currently being recruited. The majority of employees will be for graduates with skills in multilingual technical support, marketing, shared services, Intellectual Property (IP) management, global software localisation and product distribution.

“This new Centre will play a strategic role in the company’s development of its global markets and is a testament to Ireland’s highly attractive business environment for leading international companies. It is also in line with the Government’s policy and IDA’s goal of attracting high-value, knowledge-based operations and investments from these companies to Ireland” said the Minister.

Mr. Jim Tolonen, Chief Financial Officer at Business Objects, said, “We are proud to be working with the Government, IDA and our new employees in Ireland to establish this Centre in Dublin.
