Minister Killeen welcomes schools building and modernisation programme

7 Clare schools to benefit

Minister Tony Killeen today (Friday 25th Feb 2005) welcomed the announcement that 7 Clare schools are to benefit from the 2005 Schools Building Programme.

The ¤46million Programme announced yesterday will allow for the refurbishment of O’Callaghan’s Mills NS and for extensions to six other schools in the county. The projects are to proceed immediately and on a devolved basis. Minister Killeen commented that, “ this means that each school authority will control the planning and construction phases of their own school and they can get started immediately.”

All of the schools involved will be contacted directly by the Planning and Building Unit of the Department of Education and Science.
