Minister Martin responds to Positive Labour Market Figures

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Mr. Micheál Martin welcomed the very positive labour market figures identified in the 4^th Quarter 2004, Quarterly National Household Survey released today (Wednesday 2^nd March 2005).

Minister Martin said “these very positive figures clearly show that current Government policies are working extremely well and we will continue with the thrust of this successful approach particularly in our emphasis on maintaining our competitiveness”.
"Ireland continues to perform exceptionally well in comparison with our European partners with employment and labour force growth being ahead of the EU and with Ireland having one of the lowest rates of unemployment in the EU”, Minister Martin added.
