Minister Ahern welcomes creation of 155 new jobs and €10 Million investment by Kepak

Minister for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Michael Ahern TD today (Monday 13^th June 2005) warmly welcomed the announcement that Kepak Cork will make a major €10m expansion investment at its plant in Watergrasshill, with the support of Enterprise Ireland. The investment will focus on the production and marketing of heat and serve meals.

Minister Ahern said, “This announcement is very good news for Watergrashill and indeed the whole of East Cork. €10 million investment will lead to the creation of 155 new jobs over the next three years and is expected to generate exports to the value of €55 million”.

“As one Ireland’s leading food companies Kepak have demonstrated their commitment to increasing and expanding their share of the prepared consumer food products market, now the fastest growing element of the food sector. They have clearly shown the importance of responding quickly to changing consumer demand and through continued innovation and investment in R & D have succeeded in expanding their business,” Minister Ahern added.

“I congratulate the staff and management of Kepak Cork and wish them continued success in the future”, Minister Ahern concluded.
