Minister Ahern welcomes announcement of new €15.6 million Dairygold investment in Mitchelstown

Minister for Trade and Commerce Michael Ahern today (Monday 20^th June) welcomed the announcement of new €15.6 million Dairygold Research and Development Centre in Michlestown.

Commenting from Philadelphia where the Minister is on a trade visit to the United States he said, "That such a large investment has been made by Dairygold, with the creation of 15 new jobs is a major boost for the Irish dairy industry. Research and Development will be critical to its future development and help to give Ireland a competitive advantage in this area".

The Minister added "I would like to commend the staff and management of Dairygold, Teagsc and UCC who with the support of Enterprise Ireland have worked in partnership to bring this project to fruition."
