Minister Killeen welcomes publication of the Labour Court Annual Report 2004
The Minister for Labour Affairs, Mr Tony Killeen, T.D., today (Wednesday 27th July 2005) welcomed the publication of the Annual Report of the Labour Court for 2004.
Minister Killeen said: “During 2004 fewer days were lost due to industrial disputes than in any other year since such statistics were first compiled in the 1920s. I congratulate the Labour Court for the key role it plays in dispute resolution in Ireland and for its ability to demonstrate fairness and understanding in carrying out this role”.
The Minister paid tribute to the work of the Labour Court during 2004, a year in which he said “the Labour Court once again saw an increase in its workload, both in terms of referrals and hearings. 2004 also brought a further expansion in the role of the Labour Court with the enactment of new Industrial Relations legislation”.
The Minster concluded ‘I look forward to the continuation of the valuable work of the Court which has contributed greatly to our current stable industrial climate.’
