QLogic officially opens EMEA Headquarters in Dublin

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin TD today (Wednesday, 27th July 2005) attended the official opening of US Company QLogic’s new Dublin operation. The company has established a new EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Headquarters in Blanchardstown, Dublin.

HK Desai, Chairman of the Board and CEO, of QLogic said, “Our first few months in Ireland have served to be very successful for the company. We have found Blanchardstown to be the ideal location for our headquarters, giving us easy access to markets across the EMEA network. The availability of highly skilled and trained people was influential in our decision and Dublin has the calibre of people we require to provide the best service possible to our clients.”

Speaking at the official opening Minister Martin welcomed the QLogic operation to Dublin. “This investment by QLogic is another strong addition to a growing pool of storage industry companies in Ireland. The Dublin facility will have EMEA wide responsibility for activities from final manufacturing to sales and marketing, financial, and fulfilment functions, encompassing an extensive range of skills.”

QLogic Corporation, headquartered in California, is one of the leading providers of Storage Area Network infrastructure components. These components are used in servers, workstations and other networking products by major IT companies such as Dell, Cisco, EMC, IBM, HP and Sun Micro Systems.

Initially, the new Irish operation will perform final manufacturing, customisation, packing and storage of products for rapid delivery to EMEA-based customers. As the project develops it will also be responsible for sales, marketing, logistics, invoicing and payment activities of product sales to customers in the EMEA region.

Additional functions such as technical support, engineering and research and development will be added to the operation at later stages. The company is on target to create up to 100 new jobs over the next five years.
