High Potential Start Up in Co. Kerry to Provide 48 New Jobs

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mr Micheál Martin, TD, today (Monday 19t h December 2005) officially announced the establishment of BeoCare Ltd, a new high potential start-up company located in Killarney, Co Kerry. With the support of Enterprise Ireland, BeoCare will incorporate a substantial R&D facility and will develop and manufacture high value medical products. It will lead to the creation of 48 high quality new jobs in Killarney over the next two years.

Making the announcement, Minister Martin said: “I am very pleased to announce the establishment of BeoCare in Co. Kerry. Significantly, 10 of the 48 new jobs to be created will be directly involved in Research and Development activities. This investment in market led research and development will help BeoCare anticipate and respond to the needs of its international customers and deliver innovative products”.

“Healthcare and life sciences are sectors in which we are developing strong clusters of dynamic Irish companies. The development of companies like BeoCare in high value knowledge intensive sectors is a key element of Enterprise Irelands 2005-2007 Strategy Transforming Irish Industry.” the Minister said.

“Growing the number of start-up firms is essential to developing and sustaining our regional economies and is a major focus of Enterprise Irelands Strategy. BeoCare’s location in Killarney will not only create jobs in the local area, but also generate spin-off economic activities which are very important in promoting regional development.” the Minister added.

Welcoming the Minister’s announcement, Kevin Sherry, Manager of Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start-Up Unit said: “Joseph Gallagher and the promoters of BeoCare bring extensive technical, commercial and market experience to this new high potential start-up. Enterprise Ireland is particularly pleased to be supporting BeoCare and looks forward to working closely with the company in realising its vision”
