Minister for Trade and Commerce, Michael Ahern T.D., has officially opened the new US headquarters of Precision Software in Chicago, Illinois. Minister Ahern is in Chigago to participate in the cities St. Patrick Day celebrations and to meet and address the Irish communinty and local, civic and business leaders.
Precision Software is an indigenous Irish company providing global logistics solutions. Precision moves goods for 900 medium and large scale customer sites in 55 countries world-wide.
Speaking at the official opening of the new headquarters in Chicago Minister Ahern said:
“Precision Software is a fine example of the new breed of Irish company which is actively developing business opportunities across the United States. Irish companies now have over 300 offices in 35 States in the US and they employ over 52,000 people. Irish investment in the US has increased ten-fold in the last decade. And more is on the way”.
“The opening of these new headquarters further demonstrates the growth and success that Irish companies can achieve if they have the vision and entrepreneurial spirit to take their products to the US and other world markets”, the Minister added.
Since Precision first entered the US market four years ago, it has been chalking up annual growth rates in excess of 50%. Last year alone, it has won important new customers of the calibre of Tyco Healthcare, Haemonetics, RR Donnelly, Fred Meyer, Jabil Circuits, Hunter Douglas, Speedline Technologies and the Kerry Group.
“The success of the TRAXi3 product, launched last year as its one-stop integrated solution for logistics, reflects the formidable knowledge and expertise that has been built up over the years and Precision’s commitment to maintaining its competitive edge by investing in R&D”, Minister Ahern said.
Also speaking at the opening Greg Lloyd, CEO Precision Software said "It is once again an exciting time to be involved in the software industry particularly with the size and scope of the US economy. Precision feels that we are strategically positioned through the depth of our solution, our large US customer base and strong international partner network".
“Irish companies, with Enterprise Ireland support, are continuing to set up offices in the Americas to service customers, prospect new business and seek out partnerships with US companies. Ireland’s high tech companies have been successful in the US, and in other international markets, because they offer high quality products and business solutions that are tailored to specific customer requirements,” the Minister added.
“The Irish economy continues to be one of the leading economic growth performers in the industrialised world and Ireland’s success in the software business is a good example of our growth. The development of Ireland’s software industry is one of the most striking examples of Ireland's emergence as an international high tech centre. “Precision Software has come a long way in a comparatively short time and, clearly, has the drive and capability to achieve even greater things in the future”, Minister Ahern concluded.
Notes for Editors
Precision Software was founded by Corkman Brendan O'Donoghue in 1984. From the early days of developing a software solution to create documents for goods being shipped out of Ireland, Precision Software and it’s product has grown to encompass all international shipping, to anywhere from anywhere, for all modes of transit. Today, Precision employs 120 people and its global trade and transportation solution, TRAXi3 supports 900+ customer sites in 57 countries.
Precision Software’s services, support and development offices in Europe (including Dublin, Coventry, Rotterdam, Düsseldorf and Bucharest) were a precursor to a strong US based presence in Chicago and Dallas. Since first establishing a presence in the US market in 2002, Precision Software has averaged a 52% growth rate each year for the past four years.
Precision’s TRAXi3 is the accumulation of 12 years of product development from its R&D group at home in Dublin. Using the latest services oriented architecture (SOA), TRAXi3 provides a single platform solution for global trade and transportation that integrates with and extends the capabilities of leading enterprise resource planning (ERP’s) systems such as Oracle, SAP, QAD, Red Prairie, Catalyst International, Provia and SwissLog.
