Minister Martin welcomes the Enterprise Ireland Annual Report 2006.

Mr. Micheál Martin T.D., Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, today (Wednesday 18 July 2007) welcomed the 2006 annual report and Accounts of Enterprise Ireland.

The Minister was pleased to note that the annual report shows remarkable progress is being made against all the strategic targets set for export sales (almost ¤3bn in 2 years), research and development projects and supports for high-potential start-up companies.

Making the announcement the Minister said “Enterprise Ireland aimed to increase export sales in their client companies by ¤3 billion in three years. In fact, they almost reached this target by the end of 2006, a year ahead of the original target date.”

He added: “It is particularly gratifying for me to see the Irish owned enterprise sector taking a central position as a major contributor to our continued economic prosperity. This contribution needs to be recognised and the Government will continue to work with Enterprise Ireland to ensure that indigenous companies get the recognition that they deserve.”
