Limerick Firm scoops massive contract on US Trade Mission
Statement by Minister Micheal Martin, TD
Limerick Company Advanced Innovations has secured a $29 million contract during a Government backed Trade Mission to the US, the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheal Martin, TD has confirmed.
Speaking at the signing of the contract in Washington, DC, Minister Martin, congratulated the firm and its 29 workers at the Technology Park in Limerick for securing such a significant deal.
"The talent and the skills of the Limerick management and staff were the key to supporting this high tech deal which will see Advanced Innovations team up with American firm Nationwide Electronics to provide a radio ear tag for livestock in the US."
"The Limerick firm will develop a tagging system that will be able to ensure that animals are healthy by remotely monitoring vital signs such as temperature. The system will use satellite technology and ensure that herds remain healthy."
"It is important to note that Advanced Innovations with its team in Limerick will be involved in all stages of the development of this product. It will manufacture and test the product before delivery to thousands of stockyards across the United States."
"The fact that this contract is being signed on an Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission is also significant. Enterprise Ireland is fully committed to supporting Irish firms which are taking the lead in the high tech sector."
"The awarding of this contract shows the importance we place on the sector and continuing Research and Development. The Government through Enterprise Ireland will continue to ensure that Irish companies which are at the cutting edge of developing new technology are given every possible support" concluded the Minister.
