Limerick Firm switches on 150 million mobile users Worldwide

Statement by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin, TD

A Limerick firm which provides mobile phone services to 150 million mobile users worldwide is hoping to expand into more markets after taking part in the world’s largest communications show in Barcelona.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin, TD was on hand at the World Mobile Congress to support the efforts of Tango Telecom, which employs 50 people at the National Technology Park.

Minister Martin said the success of the company shows that the Technology Park is a great asset not just to Limerick but to the entire country as we continue to sell Ireland as a centre of excellence for mobile technology.

“Tango Telecom is already a success story. It is providing enhanced mobile phone services to key operators internationally including Vodafone, America Movil and Indosat.”

“Due to the expertise of the team in Limerick these operators have been able to dramatically speed up the roll out of enhanced mobile services.”

“Tango Telecom has travelled to Barcelona with 20 other companies which are being supported by Enterprise Ireland. They have used the congress to pitch for business from many of the 60,000 visitors to the Congress.”

“Tango Telecom is playing an important part in the continued delivery of quality jobs to Limerick and I am delighted to support their efforts in Barcelona and to offer the continued support of the Government through Enterprise Ireland into the future,” concluded Minister Martin.
