Cork’s New Firms to create 100 new jobs

Statement by Minister Micheál Martin

Eight cutting edge Cork firms are to create an extra 100 jobs over the next three years, according to the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin, TD.

“These firms across the City and County form part of a record breaking year by Enterprise Ireland in terms of the numbers of companies established and the number of jobs created.”

“The companies are already giving work to 100 people and this will double as they expand their exports into new world markets. Cork is one of the most successful counties in terms of company start ups supported by Enterprise Ireland and it is clear that the local spirit of enterprise is delivering jobs into many communities.

  • Documatics of Bishopstown with its current team of 5 has developed software for legal practices which is now being marketed in Australia. It plans 7 new jobs.
  • Eolas International of Little Island with 13 employees provides research and analysis which is used by clients such as Pepsi, Heineken and Unilever.
  • Epic Solutions of Carrigtwohill develops software for the healthcare sector in Ireland, Britain and Europe it plans to increase its existing workforce from 5 to 15.
  • Aspiracon are specialists in supporting project management, the idea of two former Motorola employees it plans to employ 13 people.
  • Alpha Healthcare of Mallow provides management skills to GPs and will more than double its current workforce of 11 to 23.
  • Eirebloc of Macroom which manufactures and sells pallet blocks is increasing its workers from the current 51 to 90.
  • Enbio which is based at CIT develops technology to support start ups in the Medical Device Sector and plans to employ 4.

The Government is committed to supporting Cork companies into the future. Whether it is through the provision of start up office space, support for Research and Development or help to break into new markets we are working to ensure Cork’s small and medium sized firms remain at the top of their field.”

“Such companies are delivering jobs in communities across Cork and I would encourage both existing Cork companies or anyone planning a business start up to carefully study what supports are available from Enterprise Ireland”, concluded Minister Martin.
