Tánaiste Announces 52 New Jobs for Carlow

Jobs Created By Carlow County Enterprise Board Supported Companies -Danelle Recycling Ltd and Homefix Solutions

“Strong Enterprise Culture in Carlow”- Tánaiste

Today (Thursday 26th February 2009) Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment Mary Coughlan T.D. announced the creation of fifty two new jobs by Carlow companies on a visit to Carlow County Enterprise Board. The jobs have been created by Danelle Recycling Ltd and Homefix Property Solutions Ltd, both clients of Carlow County Enterprise Board.

Making the announcement the Tánaiste said:

“I am delighted to officially open Danelle Recycling and Homefix Property Solutions with the creation of 52 new jobs in Carlow. These jobs will bring direct benefits in terms of employment and wages, and also significant knock-on benefits to the local economy.”

“The entrepreneurs behind these companies remind us that, even in a very challenging business climate, entrepreneurs with ambition, support and a strong business idea can successfully establish and grow a new business. These two companies are excellent examples of the strong enterprise culture that exists in Carlow. Carlow County Enterprise Board, through its range of business services, training, mentoring and financial supports has been instrumental in creating this culture” the Tánaiste added.

Danelle Recycling Ltd is a growing company, already employing nine people full time. It will create at least two new positions in 2009. Homefix Property Solutions Ltd, which is currently at early start-up stage, aims to create fifty new roles in the company within the coming year.

Commenting on the announcement Michael P. Kelly, CEO of Carlow County Enterprise Board said:

Small businesses make big economic contributions and are central to Ireland’s future economic, regional and social development.”

The Tánaiste also visited six businesses resident in Enterprise House, Carlow’s Community Enterprise Centre.

Danelle Recycling Ltd is based in Quinagh, Carlow. It is a recycling company, trading since 2008, which specialises in the processing of a range of recyclable wastes. As well as the processing of mainstream waste recyclables like cardboard, paper and plastic film, the Company also specialises in the recovery of less obvious waste streams such as polystyrene (EPS) in a raw or compacted state and automobile plastics, such as car bumpers. The company also manufactures a range of glass crushers designed to suit the requirements of the hotel and licensed trade.

Entrepreneurs Jean and Tony Broderick run the company, which now employs nine full-time staff and operates from a 10,000 sq ft premises in County Carlow. The company was formed as a result of a market opportunity for a professional recyclable waste processing service in the South-East region.

Homefix Property Solution Ltd is a start-up company by serial entrepreneurJim Somers who won the Shell Live Wire “Young Business Start Up of the Year” for his company Barrow Automation Ltd in 2003. Homefix provides a comprehensive property emergency service to its subscribers and will dispatch a qualified technician to business and residential properties when required. This innovative service is already available in Carlow and Kilkenny and is expanding across Leinster in response to demand from property owners, landlords, schools, retail managers and industrial complexes. The Company plans to provide a nation-wide service by year end 2009.

Carlow County Enterprise Board Ltd

Carlow County Enterprise Board was established in 1993 with the objective of promoting enterprise and encouraging the establishment of new businesses in the County, as well as supporting the growth of existing businesses. Carlow County Enterprise Board is the first port of call for those needing information and advice on how to go about setting up or expanding a micro business venture.

Services include business Information and Advice, Training and Development, Enterprise Clinics, Mentoring, Technical Assistance, Networking Events and Financial Assistance. Carlow County Enterprise Board also provides a number of key educational programmes and at present over 2,580 students in County Carlow are participating in the Board’s enterprise education programmes.
