35 High-Value Jobs Announced
The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Mary Coughlan T.D. today (15th March 2010) announced that Dublin software company Openet is to invest ¤3.65m in a major research and development programme with support from Enterprise Ireland. The investment will see Openet create 35 new high-value jobs in Dublin over the next year.
The company currently employs 145 people in Ireland and the 35 new jobs are high-value positions including program managers, engineers and senior software engineers. Recruitment for the positions is commencing immediately.
Making the announcement, the Tánaiste said:
“I’d like to congratulate Openet on its latest expansion programme supported by the Government through Enterprise Ireland. Openet is a scaling client of Enterprise Ireland’s, that is, the company has particular potential for rapid and steady growth to quickly achieve international scale and become a significant employer and global leader in their field.”
“Ireland’s economic future is dependent upon sophisticated companies such as Openet achieving overseas success to secure jobs and growth at home. Openet’s international footprint is growing fast with operations in the US, Kuala Lumpur, Sao Paulo, the UK and Australia. This internationalisation is underpinned by the R&D being carried out in its Irish base which is now expanding with recruitment for 35 high-value positions.”
Niall Norton, CEO of Openet said: “As a growing Dublin-based company Openet is very familiar with the depth and breadth of local talent. We’re excited to be expanding our R&D operations in Dublin, which will assist Openet in quickly taking advantage of a number of new market opportunities based on our scalability and flexibility in handling ever-increasing volumes of real-time transactions. The transaction processing and management Openet provides will only grow in importance as various network types and styles look to deliver new services, and our new hires will be crucial to fuelling our growth.”
“Internationalisation and growing our export sales is core to Openet’s growth strategy and, apart from supporting our R&D programme, Enterprise Ireland, through its overseas offices, provides high levels of support in our key markets including valuable introductions to key individuals and important local market knowledge.”
Enterprise Ireland’s Head of Scaling Greg Treston added:
“Openet has a strong track record in commercialising its R&D. The company’s competitive edge against its bigger competitors is in its ability to provide its customer base with highly innovative and flexible products. It is this commitment to R&D and customer focus that has enabled the company to scale rapidly and become a significant international player in its sector.”
“Enterprise Ireland is delighted to support Openet’s continuing investment in R&D that will enable the company to build its customer offering and give further impetus to its ongoing scaling strategy.”
