Galway Company Health Care Informed Completes ¤200k Contract with Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital

Minister Kelleher Leads 44 Irish Companies on Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission to Australia

The Minister for Trade and Commerce Mr Billy Kelleher T.D. has today (5th May 2010) announced that Galway company Health Care Informed (HCI) has completed a contract worth ¤200k with Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital to implement HCI’s Quality Management Information System.

The announcement was made during this week’s Enterprise Ireland trade mission of 44 companies to Australia.

Established in 2005, HCI provides services, expertise and innovative solutions to healthcare providers in quality, regulatory and risk management.

The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) in Melbourne is one of the world’s leading specialist pediatric hospitals treating more then 250,000 patients annually. A number of key clinical departments of the RCH have implemented the HCI Quality Management Information System resulting in improved control of clinical care processed and greater control of regulatory and audit management.

Making the announcement, Minister Kelleher said:

“Health Care Informed is a relatively young company and to secure this contract with such an iconic Australian institution as the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne is a substantial endorsement for the quality and competitiveness of their offering.”

John Sweeney, CEO of HCI said:

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital. This now provides us with a base for the rollout of HCI’s quality systems to similar organisations in Australia, with a potential imminent market value in excess of ¤2 million.”

The Enterprise Ireland trade mission to Australia will take in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra and includes Irish companies from a range of sectors such as software, financial services, telecoms, e-learning, life sciences and environmental services.

Irish enterprise exports to Australia are worth almost ¤200m per year making Australia the largest market in the Asia Pacific Region and the ninth largest export market in the world for Irish exporting companies. Over 70 Irish companies have a physical presence in the market.

“The aim of the companies on this trade mission is to win business in Australia and to actively explore the potential for developing mutually beneficial alliances with Australian companies.

“It is also an opportunity to look more closely at the scope for developing greatly expanded commercial and trade links between Ireland and Australia and focus in particular on what can be identified as areas of significant future potential”, Minister Kelleher added.
