Minister O’Keeffe announces 50 new jobs in car mirror maker

12 May, 2010

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, Batt O’Keeffe TD, today [Wednesday] announced 50 new jobs in a company that manufactures mirrors for cars and trucks.

Mirror Controls International is to transfer its European manufacturing business to the company’s plant in Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim.

The transfer will start during the summer, creating 50 jobs through the expansion of the existing facility in Manorhamilton.

The investment is supported by the Government through IDA Ireland.

Mirror Controls International is the leading global supplier of motorised actuators for exterior automotive mirror systems.

The company, which already employs 110 workers in Manorhamilton, was set up in 1978 and it now supplies products to all major car manufacturers.

Minister O’Keeffe said: ‘This is a significant win for Mirror Controls International which further embeds the Irish operation’s role in the company’s global business and at the same time creates top-level career opportunities for the north-west region.

‘It demonstrates the viability of our manufacturing sector and consolidates our reputation as an attractive location in Europe for high-quality overseas manufacturing.’
