Westmeath is now well along the road of providing an ‘Innovation Infrastructure’ in the Midlands region said Minister for Trade and Commerce, Billy Kelleher TD when he opened the new Enterprise, Technology and Innovation Centre in Clonmore, Mullingar.
Minister Kelleher said: Enterprise Technology and Innovation Centres such as these are vitally important to local communities across the Midlands Region and indeed throughout the country.
‘They provide a clear signal that the local community are prepared to play a leadership role in supporting early stage entrepreneurs and developing enterprise in their local areas.
‘I am pleased that some new businesses have already established at the centre such as E-Grinds, Next Gen Heat, Alva Advisory and emerging businesses such as Ivory Tower Cards and the Midland School of Childcare.
‘Entrepreneurs and the businesses they create are the life blood of our economy and in these challenging times they need every support they can get to start and grow.
‘Companies that set their sights on international markets are particularly important as they are the ones that will generate additional revenue overseas and make Ireland more prosperous.
‘The State’s enterprise Agencies are, as always, available to support new companies win new business overseas.
‘Any initiative that promotes start-up or development of locally based enterprise benefits the local economy and should ultimately create employment.
‘I hope to see more entrepreneurship fostered in this way,’ Minister Kelleher concluded.
