Minister O’Keeffe appoints legal expert to Competition Authority

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, Batt O’Keeffe TD, today [Monday] appointed legal expert Gerald FitzGerald to the Competition Authority for the next six months.

‘Mr FitzGerald brings with him huge experience that will help the Competition Authority to effectively discharge its responsibilities and drive competitiveness as our economy recovers,’ said Minister O’Keeffe.

Mr FitzGerald is a former partner in McCann FitzGerald Solicitors and now a full-time legal consultant.

He was involved in several leading competition and merger cases in McCann FitzGerald.

Mr FitzGerald was formerly a member of the Competition Authority’s Advisory Panel and the Government-appointed Competition and Mergers Review Group whose recommendations were incorporated into the Competition Act 2002.
