The Minister for Labour Affairs and Public Service Transformation, Dara Calleary TD, has launched the first Mayo Ideas Week in Áras Inis Gluaire Civic Centre, Belmullet, Co Mayo, yesterday [Thursday].
Running between 27 September and 1 October 2010, Ideas Week is designed to help existing and budding entrepreneurs in Mayo to develop new business opportunities.
The week is targeted at anybody looking to develop a business idea or seeking guidance on how to expand their existing business.
There will be a particular focus on areas such as farming, tourism, renewable energy and creative industries
Minister Calleary welcomed the initiative, saying it promises to be a landmark event for enterprise development in Mayo.
‘Ideas week is a timely and welcome imitative for Mayo entrepreneurs.
‘Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and now more than ever they need every support they can get to start and grow.
‘As well as Ideas Week, the Government is providing various supports through Enterprise Ireland and Mayo County Enterprise Board.
