The Envelope Supply Company to create 32 positions in Kilkenny

The Envelope Supply Company (ESCo) today [Monday] announced that it is to establish an envelope manufacturing facility in Kilkenny. The new facility will create 32 employment opportunities by the end of 2014, ranging from operative level employees to management and supervisory positions. The products to be manufactured will be pocket and wallet envelopes for supply to major companies in the UK and Europe across all market segments, including Office Supplies, Direct Mail and Print Management.

The Envelope Supply Company will concentrate on export markets, particularly the UK and Europe. In addition, the Irish factory will also supply products to their overprinting facilities in Germany and France and assist in the development of further overprinting facilities across Europe.

The Envelope Supply Company (ESCo) was established in the UK in 2008 and is jointly owned by German, Austrian, Belgian and UK shareholders who have been involved in the envelope business for many years. The business model emphasises customer service and competitive pricing.

Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD said, “A key part of the Government’s plan for jobs and growth is ensuring that we deepen and develop the impact of multinational investment here. We have a base of multinational companies here that is the envy of the world, but if we are to create the numbers of jobs we need we must build on this and attract a new cohort of companies which we haven’t reached before. Today’s announcement that this multinational company is establishing a manufacturing facility in a regional location with the creation of 32 jobs is very welcome news.”

Sue Hale, Managing Director of the Envelope Supply Company confirms the company’s decision to locate in Kilkenny. “In order to continue the strong development of our company, it was important to increase our capacity and range of product but, in doing so, it was equally important to secure a committed, enthusiastic and knowledgeable team around us. We have only a positive experience of Ireland as a base for manufacturing and the response from the local people and the support from the IDA has made our decision to base our production facility in Kilkenny an easy choice. Installation of machines and equipment is already underway and we expect production to commence towards the end of July. Many of the initial positions have been filled and further recruitment will be taking place within the next few weeks as we come closer to our start-up date”
