Public consultation on the Trade Secret Directive (EU) 2016/943

The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation invites submissions to a public consultation on the transposition of the Directive (EU) 2016/943 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of undisclosed know-how and business information (trade secrets) against their unlawful acquisition, use and disclosure.

A trade secret is a valuable piece of information kept secret by companies wishing to exploit a competitive advantage. The Directive is aimed at standardizing existing national laws to protect against misappropriation of trade secrets.

The closing date for submissions is Friday 30 June 2017. Respondents are requested to make their submissions in writing, preferably by email to ipu@djei.ie.
