SI No 156 of 2016 European Union (Collective Rights Management) (Directive 2014/26/EU) Regulations 2016

The European Union (Collective Rights Management) (Directive 2014/26/EU) Regulations 2016 were signed into law by Minister Richard Bruton TD on 8 April 2016, coming into effect on 10 April 2016.

These Regulations act to incorporate the EU Directive 2014/26/EU on collective management of copyright and related rights and multi-territorial licensing of rights in musical works for online use in the internal market into Irish law. The aim of these Regulations is to deliver a high standard of service among all Irish collecting societies. By modernising the organisation of collecting societies, rightholders can be even more assured that their rights are being effectively managed.
