Deloitte’s acquisition of IT Consulting firm System Dynamics also approved by Competition and Consumer Protection Commission

Deloitte is creating 400 new jobs in its rapidly expanding Consulting business, seeking to recruit 100 people immediately and a further 300 over the next four years.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton will be present today at the official announcement to welcome the expansion news.

The firm is actively recruiting for people, at all levels across their strategy and operations, technology, and human capital teams. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to lead and work on transformation projects for clients in numerous industries including the banking, insurance, consumer business, pharmaceutical, energy, and public sectors. Roles are currently available in the following areas:

  • Big Data analytics
  • Digital design
  • Technology strategy and transformation
  • Business intelligence
  • Finance Transformation
  • FinTech
  • HR transformation
  • Customer strategy and customer experience

Separately, in a further major boost to its Consulting business, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has approved the acquisition by Deloitte of System Dynamics. With revenues of €21 million, it is one of Ireland’s biggest technology consulting businesses which has been serving Irish and UK clients for 40 years. This further bolsters Deloitte’s leading position in Consulting in Ireland, adding both to the scale and capability of its technology consulting business. The acquisition sees the Consulting team at Deloitte grow to over 570 people.

Minister Bruton welcomed the announcement and said: “Technology is at the very heart of our Action Plan for Jobs. It is altering the way virtually every job is done. It is changing business models and creating new openings for companies across every area of the economy and it is creating massive new opportunities for the Irish economy in new sectors like big data and financial technology. Over recent years we have been successful in supporting jobs growth in these areas – but we have to remain vigilant and ready to seize new opportunities. Today’s very welcome announcement by Deloitte is a great example of the massive new opportunities created by these changes, I commend Brendan and the team on this and wish them every success with this project”.

Brendan Jennings, Managing Partner, Deloitte commented: “The recruitment drive for these positions, and the acquisition of System Dynamics by Deloitte, reflects our commitment to investing in our Consulting practice. We have experienced considerable growth, with revenue growth of over 80% and a doubling of our team in the last five years. Companies, and the marketplaces in which they operate, are in a near-constant state of disruption and as a result there is a significant demand for the integrated approach, quality, and innovation advice which we can provide. We are investing heavily in digital, technology, business intelligence, and analytics, and are looking to grow our consulting team to almost 1,000 people over the next four years, so that we are well placed to help our clients make the right choices for their businesses.”

In Ireland, as the economy continues to improve and companies operate in an increasingly digitised and global marketplace, there is an increase in demand for high quality business consulting services. As the world’s largest consulting practice, Deloitte Consulting is distinct in its ability to help clients solve their most complex problems, from strategy to implementation.

Harry Goddard, Head of Consulting, Deloitte commented: “Companies need to evolve to capitalise on the opportunities that digital and analytics can bring, and so too do we as we support them. These investments in our offering will enable us to be at the cutting-edge of both thinking and technology, so clients can be confident of the support that we give to them as they look to transform their businesses. Business transformation requires a leadership mind-set that embraces technology advancements that can bring about positive disruption in order to create and sustain value. At Deloitte we’re looking for people with strong technical capabilities in addition to excellent collaboration, facilitation, and strategic problem-solving skills to join our ambitious team.”

Deloitte has almost 2,000 people in Ireland providing audit, tax, consulting, and corporate finance services to public and private clients spanning multiple industries. It is consistently recognised locally and internationally as a leading place to develop a career.
